Short description of different types of Wastages

The basic 3 rules of Kaizen are –

  1. Needed, Not Needed – To eliminate items which are not required at all from work place
  2. Needed but not that much – To ensure right quantity in all purchase volume and to avoid over stock
  3. Needed but not now – Time of purchase. It blocks cash flow and  space for a period of time

5S is also a basic component of Kaizen.

5S is the foundation of all improvements and is the key component of establishing a Visual Workplace. 5S’s are part of Kaizen — a system of continual improvement which is a component of lean manufacturing. A 5 S program focuses on having visual order, organization, cleanliness and standardization. The results you can expect from a Five S program are: improved profitability, efficiency, service and safety.
